Old streets:
Walk through the historic winding streets with old houses and feel the atmosphere from old days, with life of today
In the old part of the town there are two parallel streets connected with crossing streets. The two streets follow the old coastlines towards south and north.
A town walk can begin from the market place at the old church. Walk down Grønnegade, up on Møllegade, with a trip to Ringgårdsstræde and back to the market place and walk down on Vestergade, which today is the main street with shops and supermarkets. Look down the small streets and look down to the water.
The streets have many fine, well-kept town houses. Several with gate entrances, which bear witness of trade in the good old days. The gates lead into the yards in the back with back buildings. Here you could find grocer’s shops, horse and cattle sale, butcher, brewery, pottery, pipemaker and different other crafts. Unfortunately they are not part the look of the town. Nowadays the houses are used as housing with central location, and more are so lucky to have a view over Grønsund to the island Bogø.
